NYC2123 - Issue 4
At the beginning of the fourth issue, Laney and Jake
are trying to find a save place after the stealing of the squirrel (almost)
failed. They end up with an old crewmember and friend called Asher. Laney and
Jake didn’t bring the squirrel they had too, instead they brought a rat. Just
to make sure, Asher checks whether it’s really an ordinary rat of maybe an
exotic animal. Asher cannot only find the differences between different
species, but also owns a collection of bodies which he keeps in an artificial climate.
They use one of those bodies to create an project called Dayender. The goal of
that project does not become really clear to me. However, in the end Asher
finds out that the rat they brought is just an ordinary rat.
From all issues I read so far, I think this is the
worse. First of all; I don’t get the whole storyline, I don’t really understand
what’s going on, but what I do realise is that they are being busy with some
very extraordinary actions/projects.
This issue is actually even less unrealistic than the
other issues so far. There happen a lot of strange things, for example when
Laney just plugs a cord of a computer into her neck and without acting like
it’s abnormal. Which is then of course logical, because in their everyday life,
those actions are probably very normal, but for a reader it’s very unrealistic
and therefore it is very hard to imagine the whole story.
